Hi, I'm Paige! I received my undergraduate degree in art with a concentration in art therapy. I went on to obtain my master's degree in community agency counseling and worked in crisis centers, community agencies, and private practice for several years. I discovered a desire to work with parents, specifically mothers, while counseling young children in a private practice and after having my own child. After experiencing birth trauma, and releasing the stored emotions and grief I was still harboring around the experience over two years later, I felt called to share my story and help other mothers release their own emotions and trauma from their negative birthing experience. It wasn't until recently, while working in private practice, that I had a change of heart. I've been in your shoes, so I can truly empathize with what you've been through, wondering if you're being "selfish" for feeling sad for the birth experience you missed while holding your baby in your arms and wondering "how can I deal with this when I have someone else to take care of now?" Holding these emotions in "for the sake of my baby/family" is actually doing nothing to help you, or them, and can have a huge effect on how you bond with your child.
You are most likely still holding onto the grief and trauma from your negative birth experience if you haven't done any energy clearings, nervous system exercises, somatic techniques, and released the emotions surrounding the event.
